Santa, Elvis, a Pirate, and Mummies

Even in a crazy environment like this, it's important to relax a little and forget about what a miserable place this is. A Halloween Party was just what we needed. One of our high-speed NCOs put this together all by himself. The party was great and eveyone had a good time. Because Halloween is traditionally an American event, we were interested to see if any of our international personnel would take part, and surprisingly, they did. There were some very creative costumes on display.

Here's a shot of the room before the party started.

These soldiers found an interesting way to use gauze from the first aid gear. I hope they won't be needing that anytime soon.

Where else would you find a female Santa dancing with mummies?

Here's the crowd at it's peak.

This guy won the costume contest.

And of course, what costume party is complete without an Elvis impersonator and some sort of Scottish...dude.

Here's the DJ and the guy who put this all together.

This costume went over well. Even some of the Iraqis posed for pictures with this guy. Unfortunately, we had to make him take this costume off for political correctness.

I'm not sure how this guy managed to get a cow costume, unless he brought it to Iraq with him. If that's the case, then clearly there are other issues that need to be addressed.

And of course, your's truly.
